Happy New Years!
My second semester at CiSA starts in 3 days, so I've started preparing for my 9 classes (I'm thinking of dropping French this semester since it's a heavy semester and I don't think I'll be able to be balance all of them. Dropping my French class is therefore probably for the best).
I've been stimulating my brain all week, trying to slowly prepare myself for the start of this next semester. I balance between practicing and studying LSAT questions and researching philosophy, particularly ethical theories. I feel like researching philosophy will help me not only develop my critical thinking for the LSAT but also help me understand my polisci class easier.
I've watched a couple of classes on LSAT questions and tips and bought an LSAT preptest book, which have both helped me already boost my score from a 148 to a 160 in a week. It will probably be harder from now on to elevate my score, but I'm ready to at least continue trying. I don't really know what score or Law School I'm striving for, but the LSAT helps with general critical thinking too, so it's not a total waste of time.
I've scrolled through my polisci and law classes' curriculum and moodle page. I'm feeling very confident about polisci, as I already have some knowledge about the topic for multiple of the written assignments. For example, my philosophy research of this week has already payed off, as the day after I learned about Hobbes' Social Contract theory (of a moral point of view), I logged onto the Polisci moodle page to see that it was one of the first political theories to be discussed.
McMUN 2021 is also next weekend. I haven't done my position paper yet, but plan on doing it this weekend. I'm representing Patsy Chapman from News of the World in the Annus Horribilis 1992 (British media) crisis committee. I basically have to write about the News of the World's views on the drama surrounding the Royal Family in 1992, and their involvement in propagating gossip about the British Royal Family. Although the British Royal Family does not intrigue me in the slightest in real life, I'm happy to be part of this committee as a news anchor and not as a part of the royal family. I'll be able to vocally affirm my disapproval of the Royal Family and their weird and unclear involvement in British affairs, under the character of Patsy Chapman.
In brief, I am excited for this semester, and hope my motivation for schoolwork continues to stay high until the end of this school year!
