Happy belated Halloween!
The Honours program had a meeting today at 1pm hosted by our esteemed professor, M. Mitrasca. Here's a rundown of that meeting :
- There will be changes in the 'Individu' program next year
- We need to start developing ideas and research plans for the Integrative project
- We also need to continue developing our Honours website, which is what I am currently doing.
Now, here's a little rundown of the first half of our semester :
- As the co-president of the Model UN club, I have hosted about three meetings explaining the basics of Model UN and the UN in general. We have also planned a CiSA mock-Model UN for our club members, to help them navigate their first Model UN debate. I have also given in our application for McMUN 2022.
- As the co-founder and a member of the Students for Change committee, we have planned a movie night for next Monday that will be focused on police brutality and systemic racism. The movie is The Hate U Give. We have also had bi-monthly meetings with our members which are used as a place of conversation on topics such as the female-body objectification, racism and Islamophobia in Quebec and the common usage of derogatory slurs.
- As a member of the Mock Trial committee, we have started preparing for Juripop contest, namely by doing the law 101 workshops and reading the entire document detailing the proofs and reports that will be used in the trial twice.
I have also started working in the cafe at our school! Only 4 to 5 hours a week on average, but I do enjoy having this new opportunity to learn more about how to handle and administer a small local business. I would like to also mention that I do enjoy our social sciences classes this semester very much ; Psychology, Sociology and International Law have always been subjects that interest me and I am glad to be able to learn more about them.
Take care,
Maïla
